This is the wine that started it all! Woodland Goddess is the realization of Winemaker Gary Seidler’s vision for Silvara Callars, and exactly the kind of red that he envisioned when starting more than a decade ago.

After a successful career creating, running, and selling half a dozen business, and retiring before the age of 50, Gary earned his degree at UC Davis—essentially, it’s the Harvard of the wine world—and decided to head north, to what eventually became our little slice of Washington State heaven.

His goal was to make a red wine that could compete with the best of France, Italy, Spain, California, Australia, and beyond, but that would also express the majesty and honesty of the Pacific Northwest.

The result is the Woodland Goddess red blend, a wine that, vintage after vintage, is among our most popular. In 2016, Gary blended 45.5% Cabernet Sauvignon with, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Malbec, and even a dash of Cab Franc, which adds a barely perceptible but crucial floral lift to the finish.

Sip after sip, this is a ripe, generous Cab-based blend from the Horse Heaven Hills AVA that bursts with exuberant aromas of purple fruit, plums, black raspberries, cedar, and sweet spice—clove, allspice, cinnamon—and a plush, velvety palate with flavors of ripe mountain berries, blackberry coulis, figs, black licorice, vanilla, and cardamom. Power and elegance rarely co-exist so seamlessly.

Tasting Note: “Aromas of prune and mocha lead to flavors of dried plum, anise and black pepper. This is a medium-bodied wine but has big tannins on the finish and leaves flavors of chocolate malt and persimmon. Enjoy this wine slightly chilled while you’re making dinner or with tomato-based foods like spaghetti, ravioli, or pizza. It also pairs incredibly well with shellfish, especially steamer clams”

As the wine opens up, it reveals a complex bouquet of blackberry, violets, and sagebrush. Evocative of a wild and untamed landscape. On the palate it is a masterful blend of dark fruit and black pepper notes, creating a symphony of flavors that dance across the tongue. The wine’s long finish is like a lingering melody, leaving a lasting impression on anyone who tries it. With only a little more than 1,000 tons of this varietal harvested each fall in Washington, this is a rare and precious gem that is not to be missed. It pairs perfectly with grilled proteins.

Winemaker’s Notes: 🏆 Double Gold 95 Award Winner at Seattle Wine Awards. Our goal with this Cabernet has always been to capture the regal nature of the variety that they call the “King of Red Grapes”—purity of expression, youthful fruitiness, ageworthy structure, food-friendliness, and an undeniable sense of the place where it was grown. And in 2018, our winemaker Gary nailed all of those elusive Cabernet markers.

Pairings: It’s an incredibly versatile choice, an excellent match for dishes like grilled ribeye steak, slow-cooked lamb shanks, wild mushroom risotto, and roasted eggplant Parmesan. For dessert, try it with dark chocolate and berry treats to highlight its nuanced finish.

Winemaker’s Notes: Our 2018 Sangiovese blend is being sourced from the Clos Cheval Vineyards in Lake Chelan. A touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec was added to round out this captivating blend. Sangiovese is in fact the most planted grape in central Italy. In Washington we are able to produce a bigger bodied version, with notes of coffee and dark fruits that are not commonly seen in the Italian versions. Our blend opens with notes of fresh strawberries and black currants. Delicate aromas of espresso and spice adds a seductive layer of depth mid-palate. The finish lingers with “bing cherry” that will make your mouth water. I recommend pairing this wine with spice driven-foods or your favorite grilled protein.

Winemaker’s Notes: The 2020 growing season proved to be an excellent year particularly for red varieties. This vintage benefited from stellar weather, beautiful growing conditions and relatively small berry size that allowed the grapes to ripen earlier than expected. Ideal weather conditions were present during harvest to send high quality fruit to winemakers. Our 2020 Quartet is a standout representation of this perfect growing year. As a mid-bodied blend with hints of spice, plum, vanilla and just bit of leather or smoke it can be enjoyed alongside a meal or as a standalone glass.

Winemaker’s Notes: Our 2021 Grenache showcases the vibrant character of the Wahluke Slope. On the nose, enjoy delicate aromas of red berries, ripe strawberries, and a touch of wildflowers. The palate offers layers of juicy raspberries, subtle hints of white pepper, and a gentle earthiness. With soft tannins and a balanced acidity, this wine finishes with a smooth, lingering spice.

Blend: 97% Grenache, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon

Aging Potential: 4-6 years

Pairings: This versatile Grenache pairs beautifully with grilled lamb chops, roasted vegetables, and Mediterranean dishes like ratatouille. It also complements soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert, making it perfect for casual gatherings or elegant dinners.

Winemaker’s Notes: The wine world has justifiably fallen in love with Malbec, a grape so delicious that it skyrocketed Argentina’s entire wine industry to international fame. As much as we love those wines, we’ve never believed that Argentina should have a monopoly on this fantastic variety (it did originate in France, after all). Winemaker Gary Seidler searched for years before discovering small quantities of world-class Malbec growing right nearby in Columbia Valley.

Pairings: It’s perfect on its own -especially with a very slight chill, which enhances the bright berry flavors- or paired up with grilled/barbecued/roasted mushrooms, sausage, game or red meats (beef, lamb, venison), cured meats, hard cheese, black pepper.

Winemaker’s Notes: Our 2021 Syrah is sourced from Washington’s Rocks District, a unique growing region that Wine Spectator has called “The most distinctive AVA in the United States….making some of the greatest wines in America.” While it may be small (under 6 square miles), the Rocks District makes up for its lack of size in its incredibly unique expression of Syrah, which grows in an ancient unique alluvial fan that formed at the base of the Blue Mountains and is rich in Freewater soils and large basalt rocks, yielding to stunningly balanced, elegant vine fruit.

Our 2022 Carménère opens like a quiet revelation — a wine that carries both history and mystery in every swirl. Once a nearly forgotten Bordeaux varietal, Carménère has found a vibrant new home in Washington’s Columbia Valley, where long autumn light and cool evening air coax out its most expressive traits. In our cellar, it becomes something unmistakably Silvara: graceful, layered, and deeply rooted in place.

The aromatics rise first — black cherry, wild blackberry, and a breath of green peppercorn, threaded with dried herbs. On the palate, the wine moves with a velvety confidence: dark plum, cocoa, and warm spice unfold over soft, supple tannins. A touch of toasted oak adds quiet structure, guiding the wine toward a lingering finish of cedar, thyme, and savory depth.

The 2022 Dolcetto showcases how beautifully this Italian varietal thrives in Washington’s Columbia Valley. Grown in sandy‑loam soils layered over ancient basalt, the fruit develops vivid color, lifted aromatics, and a natural balance shaped by warm days and cool, high‑desert nights. The result is a wine that’s bright, expressive, and unmistakably Silvara.

This vintage opens with aromas of black cherry, wild plum, dried rose, and a hint of anise. On the palate, juicy red fruit meets soft, rounded tannins and a subtle thread of minerality — a hallmark of the valley’s volcanic soils. A short élevage in neutral oak preserves freshness while adding gentle polish. The finish is dry, floral, and refreshingly clean.

Silvara 2024 White Blend | Gewürztraminer & Riesling

A vibrant, aromatic Washington white with lifted florals, crisp acidity, and a beautifully textured finish.

Our 2024 White Blend brings together two expressive varietals — Gewürztraminer and Riesling — grown in the sun‑drenched vineyards of Washington’s Columbia Valley. The region’s long, warm days and cool, desert‑cooled nights allow both grapes to ripen slowly, building intense aromatics while preserving the bright acidity that defines this wine.

Gewürztraminer contributes its signature floral lift and exotic spice, while Riesling adds structure, minerality, and a refreshing citrus backbone. Fermented cool and aged in stainless steel, the blend remains crisp, pure, and true to the fruit.
