Our 2022 Carménère opens like a quiet revelation — a wine that carries both history and mystery in every swirl. Once a nearly forgotten Bordeaux varietal, Carménère has found a vibrant new home in Washington’s Columbia Valley, where long autumn light and cool evening air coax out its most expressive traits. In our cellar, it becomes something unmistakably Silvara: graceful, layered, and deeply rooted in place.

The aromatics rise first — black cherry, wild blackberry, and a breath of green peppercorn, threaded with dried herbs. On the palate, the wine moves with a velvety confidence: dark plum, cocoa, and warm spice unfold over soft, supple tannins. A touch of toasted oak adds quiet structure, guiding the wine toward a lingering finish of cedar, thyme, and savory depth.

Aging Potential

Carménère is naturally generous in youth, yet patient enough to reward time. This vintage will age beautifully for 5–10 years, gradually deepening into notes of dried fruit, tobacco leaf, cedar, and warm spice as its tannins grow even silkier. Proper cellaring will reveal the full arc of its character — from vibrant and herbaceous to rich, contemplative, and elegantly mature.
