2018 Sangiovese
Our 2018 Sangiovese blend is being sourced from the Clos Cheval Vineyards in Lake Chelan. A touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec was added to round out this captivating blend. Sangiovese is in fact the most planted grape in central Italy. In Washington we are able to produce a bigger bodied version, with notes of coffee and dark fruits that are not commonly seen in the Italian versions. Our blend opens with notes of fresh strawberries and black currants. Delicate aromas of espresso and spice adds a seductive layer of depth mid-palate. The finish lingers with “bing cherry” that will make your mouth water. I recommend pairing this wine with spice driven-foods or your favorite grilled protein.
Tasting Notes: Our Washington Sangiovese, unlike the iconic Italian grape, is a bolder, bigger-bodied version, boasting intriguing coffee and dark fruit notes which are rarely found in its Italian counterparts. This wine opens with a burst of fresh strawberries and black currants, while the nose is embraced by black cherries, raspberries, plums, and savory dried herbs. The palate is awash with dark forest fruits, complete with rounded tannins. Hints of delicate espresso and spice in the mid-palate add a seductive layer of complexity. Finish offers a lingering, mouthwatering bing cherry delight.
Pairings: I recommend pairing this wine with boldly spiced driven-foods or your favorite grilled protein.
